Great work, great cause

Christopher Place, also known as the Speech, Language and Hearing Centre, helps profoundly deaf children develop their communication skills – so successfully that over 80% go on to attend mainstream schools.

We’ve supported the charity for over five years, by providing our services free of charge to promote its annual Golf Day. Held at prestigious venues including Wentworth, Stoke Park and, in 2011, Brocket Hall, the event is aimed at high net worth individuals, so the materials have to be of the highest possible quality.

This year, they included a Diary Note ahead of the event, a formal invitation booklet, Player Handbook and sponsorship forms, plus video presentations that were shown on the day itself.

The charity acknowledges that our campaigns are a huge part of why these Golf Days are so successful, attracting large numbers of participants and raising up to £100,000 on the day each year.

We’ve also recently produced a DM campaign to recruit Friends of Christopher Place.

We’ve supported this charity for a number of years, and it’s always a pleasure to be able to donate our time and skills to this fantastic cause. Although it’s done on a pro bono basis, the work bears all the Impact hallmarks of creativity and strategic thinking; because just like any commercial project, it’s ultimately judged on whether it works. And it does.

This project has to do several things at once. At its most basic, it’s an information piece, listing dates, times and places, so these have to be communicated clearly and simply. At the same time, it needs to have an emotional ‘pull’ to encourage people to sign up. After five years, we’ve learned how to achieve the balance – as the attendance and money raised demonstrate.

The black and orange colour palette gives this a strong, corporate look that reflects our audience of discerning, high net worth individuals. We’ve also incorporated images of children, since this is a children’s charity, but we’ve been careful not to sentimentalise. The overall feel is positive and confident.
