A tailor-made solution

Duncan Lambert has been a golf pro for over 25 years. Now head pro at West Malling Golf Cub in Kent, he runs a high-end golf shop, specialising in custom-fit clubs from top brands including PING, Calloway and TaylorMade.

Based less than 15 miles from our offices in Marden, Duncan asked us to produce a press ad for his golf shop, supported by an email campaign. We created a full-page, full-colour ad for the local Kent Messenger group newspapers; as well as Duncan’s own database, our email campaign targets regional readers of leading national golfing magazines.

While many of our clients are national and international concerns, it’s always good to work with people in our own backyard. It’s really encouraging to see a local business thriving and expanding – it shows a robustness, vision and passion that we can really identify with here at Impact.

Our instincts and experience, backed up by research, told us that a national campaign wasn’t appropriate for Duncan, so we used the leading regional newspapers for our ad campaign. We also judged that emailing the entire database of a national magazine would be inefficient, so we’ve used highly targeted lists, based on readers in a tightly defined local area.

Ads for individual retailers can be tricky because of the different logos that need to be included. We worked closely with Duncan to make sure we gave due prominence to brands like PING, while ensuring we achieved a creative integrity that held the ad together.
